Holstein Canada National Director Elections

More What's New

Nominations for Holstein Canada National Director in three electoral districts of Canada – Central and Northern Ontario, Alberta and the Northwest Territories, and Quebec at Large – closed on December 7th.

Returned by acclamation in Central and Northern Ontario was incumbent National Director Dennis Werry, Oshawa, Ont.

In Quebec at Large, Benoît Turmel of Sainte-Marie-de-Beauce, Que., was acclaimed as the new National Director for that electoral district. He fills the vacancy that currently exists for National Director in that area.

There will be an election for National Director in Alberta and the Northwest Territories, with one candidate elected from that area. In that district, Debbie Hofstra of Millet, Alta., and Willem Vanderlinde of Lacombe, Alta., are vying for the national director post. They are competing for the position presently held by Orville Schmidt of Leduc County, Alta., who will be retiring from the Board of Directors after the Holstein Canada Annual Meeting in Charlottetown, P.E.I., in April. Ballots will be mailed on January 7th to all eligible Holstein Canada voting members in Alberta and the Northwest Territories to determine the winner in this election. Ballots must be returned to Holstein Canada by February 7th.
