Two Very Good-89-2-Year-Olds in Canada

More What's New

On December 4th, Unique Dempsey Cheers became the first cow in Canada to classify the maximum Very Good-89-2yr in her first lactation in over two years. Bred by Unique Holsteins, Mount Forest, Ont., Cheers is owned by Ferme Blondin, Saint-Placide, Que., and Richard Villeneuve, Mirabel, Que. Cheers was first junior 2-year-old at Ontario Summer Show and second at the International Holstein Show this past show season. This “Dempsey” daughter is selling in the Blondin Sale on December 19th at their Saint-Placide farm.

On December 6th, Florbil Doorman Lilly also joined this elite group classifying Very Good-89-2yr in her first lactation. This “Doorman” daughter was bred by Florbil Farms Ltd., Mildmay, Ont., and is owned with Quality Holsteins, Vaughan, Ont., Beckridge Holsteins, Keswick, Ont., Oscar & Eric Dupasquier, Guelph, Ont., and Agriber Societa Agricola SRL, Piacenza, Italy. Lilly was first prize milking yearling at the recent Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.

In Canada to go Very Good-89-2yr (first lactation) the cow must now be previously scored in the lactation, visited three separate times on different dates, and the final revisit is with three classifiers. Two of them need to be Senior Classifiers and of those Senior Classifiers one must be a National Coordinator.
